Norfolk Local Access Forum adopts new five-goal action plan
The Norfolk Local Access Forum has formally adopted a new strategic vision and action plan that will guide its work going forward. The plan focuses on accessibility, collaboration, and building the forum's profile with councils and community organisations across Norfolk.
The Norfolk Local Access Forum (NLAF) voted at its 12 February meeting to formally adopt a new Strategic Outlook and Action Plan, setting out five goals and a series of underlying actions to guide the volunteer forum's work.
Chair Peter Knowles said the plan had been developed through previous meetings and workshops and was intended to demonstrate to stakeholders who the NLAF is and what it does. The mission statement reflects themes of accessibility and collaboration that have run through the forum's recent discussions.
The plan was proposed by Dave Ansell and seconded by Thomas Brandford before being confirmed by the meeting.
As part of delivering the plan, the forum agreed several practical next steps. Highways Area Manager West Jason Moorse offered to arrange for an NLAF representative to attend a Local Council Representative Body meeting in mid-March, giving the forum a chance to present directly to council clerks from across Norfolk.
Members also discussed building a central online resource to help people with journey planning, reporting faults, and finding access information. Ansell noted that a single signposting website would be valuable, and that search engines give priority to .gov addresses. However, members acknowledged that not all residents use the internet as their primary information source — Neil Howard noted that some people, including those whose first language is British Sign Language, may prefer Facebook or text-based communication.
The forum's next full meeting will be in July, with a summer walk planned alongside the meeting. The following scheduled meeting is 14 October 2026 at County Hall.
